Former pastor of The Church at Farmersville, J. Todd Smith, is deploying with the Ohio National Guard.

This week, he had his Call to Duty ceremony to kick off a 14-month mobilization with his unit. The unit will be stateside under Title 10 or full-time Army orders.

“Your prayers for my family and myself are greatly appreciated,” Smith said. “For God and Country!”

Smith joined the National Guard two years ago at the age of 56 and serves an Air Defense Unit as the chaplain.

Following the Call To Duty ceremony Smith and his unit will be flown to their first station to complete training.

Smith was a candidate for Ohio District 40 state representative. He was defeated by Rodney Creech in the Republican Primary in May. See Creech Wins District 40, Levies Pass
