On Tuesday, voters in Farmersville and Germantown made their selections in the May primary election.
State Representative Rodney Creech won the Republican primary, defeating challenger J. Todd Smith. Jackson Township police and road levies passed.

Ohio District 40
Republican Rodney Creech, currently serves as the District 40 Representative in Columbus, serving the communities of Farmersville, Germantown, Miamisburg and Preble County. He is a businessman, farmer and Preble County resident, who was endorsed by Republicans in Ohio.
Creech beat Smith by about 2,000 votes.

In a Facebook post Tuesday evening, Creech said, “Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote today, and a heartfelt thank you to those who supported me along the way. I’m truly grateful. God is so good!”

Creech is in his third term in the Ohio House. If Creech wins the election in November, this will be his final two years in the Ohio House. Democrats did not have a candidate for this office on their primary ballot. Creech will face Libertarian Josh Umbaugh in the general election.

Jackson Township Levies
Jackson Township voters supported both property tax renewals. Both the police and road levies won by about 50 votes.

According to the ballot language, Issue 17, a road levy, will collect $161,692 annually, which amounts to $49 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value, for four years.
The police levy, Issue 18, will collect $122,409 annually, which amounts to $32 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value, for five years.

Jackson Township and Farmersville residents voted at the Farmersville Fire Association. Germantown and German Township polling places included the old high school, the Germantown Senior Center and Germantown Church of the Nazarene on Butter Street.
