Retired Valley View teacher and coach Dennis Good is writing the history of Valley View football with stories from players and fans.
Good taught at Valley View High School for 35 years and coached football 31 years, along with seasons of baseball and Junior High basketball.
Good says the book covers Spartan football history from its first season in 1968, “game by game, season by season.”
“As I continued writing, I debated when to stop the book,” Good said. “I had stopped coaching varsity in 2000. However, I just kept going, and I finished the 2025 season--57 seasons of Valley View football.”
As he wraps up the book, Good is still looking for stories to supplement the game histories. “I realized the book would be better with stories, memories, etc., from former players and fans. So, I started contacting players for some stories. The ones I have received are priceless.”
This isn’t Good’s first book. He has also authored a sports fiction book with a Christian theme, Diamond Blessings.
Good was recently on hand at the Valley View Hall of Fame event to celebrate football players from the class of 1998 who were part of all of Valley View’s state championship teams. See: New Members Inducted in Valley View Hall of Fame
