National Federation of State High School Associations estimates that only about 0.15% of high school wrestlers achieve 100 or more wins in their careers.
Foss celebrated his milestone from the podium at the Miamisburg Invitational, where he wrestled at the 132 weight class. He says the Spartans have three more tournaments this season before Sectionals, where he hopes to qualify for the District and State meets.
Foss says the toughness required for the sport is important to success. “Being able to stay healthy and endure for wrestling season is kind of a challenge in itself, because a lot of people can't do that, but being able to stay healthy for the season—that's something,” he said.
When asked if his team stopped to celebrate him, Foss noted, “They're all proud of me, and there was lots of cheering. But you just got to keep wrestling.”
A member of the National Honor Society, FFA and the Valley View varsity soccer team, Foss plans to become an electrician after graduation.
