Valley View Junior Aaron Geswein will run in the State Cross Country meet on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Columbus. Geswein qualified for the State meet as an individual runner by placing 4th in the Regional meet last weekend. He also qualified for the State meet last year as a Sophomore.

Valley View High School will honor him with a clapout on Friday, Nov. 6 at 11:30 am before he heads to Columbus with his coaches to practice on the course. Coach Jake Kasperski has high expectations for Geswein to potentially set another school record and make the podium at the State meet.

With Geswein’s leadership, the boys team placed 10th in the Regional meet. Kasperski said this was only the 5th time the whole team had qualified for Regionals. He has high expectations that the team will be in the running to qualify for the State meet next season.

Geswein set a new Valley View record in the 5K this season, running the distance in 15:52 at the District meet.

“One thing I was pretty excited about is Aaron is the first guy from Valley View to break 16 minutes in the 5k, ever,” Kasperski said. “So that's a pretty big milestone for the program. With him coming back again next year, it'll be interesting to see how far below that mark he can dip.”

Geswein also qualified for the State Track meet last season in the two-mile and 4×800 events. He was recently honored as the SWBL Southwestern Division Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.
