Valley View teachers, students and their families are still enjoying summer, but preparations are underway for the new school year, which will start August 18 for most students.
School Supplies
Stores are already stocking up on school supplies and back-to-school necessities. Valley View has posted its school supply list on the website.
Families may want to consider shopping during the 2026 Ohio Sales Tax Holiday. School supplies and limited other items can be purchased without paying sales tax. The Tax Holiday starts Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9.
Families in need of support can receive free school supplies at the National Night Out event August 4, 5-7 pm at Veteran’s Park. Area churches and local groups will be there passing out free supplies.
Schedule
The first day of school is August 18 for students in grades 1-9. Sophomores, juniors and seniors report August 19.
Kindergartners have a rolling start, with students last names A-L starting August 21 and students M-Z starting August 24. All Kindergartners will attend class August 25.
Valley View has posted the full 2026-2027 academic calendar.
The 2-hour delays for Professional Development are back again this year, on the first Monday of each month, except September, which will be the first Tuesday due to Labor Day.
Transportation
Parents need to use the FinalForms site to submit student transportation information by July 24.
The District provided guidance in a Facebook post:
Review and update your transportation selection for the upcoming school year.
Only two addresses can be serviced for transportation.
Be sure to include house numbers. We cannot route to just street names.
Fall Sports
Junior high and high school athletes have been working hard to prepare for their seasons. Official tryouts are in early August.
The Fall OHSAA Parent Meeting is Tuesday, August 4, 7 pm in the K-12 cafeteria.
The community is invited to a Meet the Teams event planned by the Valley View Athletic Boosters on August 7 at Niswonger Field.
