Three students joined the Valley View Board of Education at the October meeting. The Board has been including student representatives for about the past five years.
Junior Sienna Ferraro and Senior Cody Tays were sworn in at the meeting as Student Board Members. Micah Schaeff was unable to attend and will be sworn in at a future meeting.
Students were selected by the Board after an application and interview process.
Board president Stephanie Smith welcomed the students, “I just want everyone to know this is a great opportunity for students to really get involved in leadership and see what the school board does, how it functions, and its roles.”
“We really rely on our student Board members to be able to bring us information back from their fellow students, things that are going well, things that they think could be improved, and any of the accolades and stuff that the students are doing and that they can bring out here to the board and let us know what's going on.”

Senior Cody Tays is a member of the Valley View FFA and is also in Business Professionals of America.
“I've always been interested in leadership,” he said, “and I've been looking for a way to be even more involved. I'm involved in FFA and BPA and leadership positions in both. So I just figured, what is another way to serve the community that I can do? So I figured I would serve on the board and be able to give my feedback and represent our students as much as I can.”
