As demolition continues on the Farmersville school, residents, alumni and neighbors continue to watch the building come down and claim bricks left outside the fence by the crew.
Friday’s high winds temporarily halted progress, but demolition continued Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. See video and photos below of the progress in the last week.
As questions continue about the contents of the building, Valley View Superintendent Andrea Cook provided some insights into the process.

In an emailed response to questions about the furnishings visible through the windows of the Farmersville school, Cook shared that the sale of items in Germantown was time-consuming, with very little result.

“Regarding the property at 110 Comstock[Germantown], the district listed items for sale on GovDeals.com for a period of ten days. This platform allows the public to bid on items online; however, there was very little interest.”
“The work required to conduct this sale [in Germantown] included photographing and cataloguing all items, overseeing the online bidding process — including answering questions and meeting with interested parties — and opening the building for a full week to oversee pickup and loading of purchased items. The gross income from this effort was $448,” Superintendent Cook stated.

For Farmersville, Valley View opted to skip the sale process. “Following the sale [in Germantown], we removed any contents that could be repurposed within the district at 202 Jackson Street,” the Superintendent said.

“We then engaged with the demolition contractor for the salvage value of all remaining contents, receiving a salvage credit of $5,000,” Cook said.

The Farmersville gym and its floor seem to have reached the status of urban legend, with people throughout the community claiming to know someone who offered the school money.
“Regarding the gym floor,” Superintendent Cook noted, “the district did not receive any offers to purchase it.”

“As for the items that appear to remain in the building: following the pre-bid walkthrough on October 28, 2025, those contents could not be removed, as bidders had incorporated them into their overall salvage value bids. Their removal is therefore the contractor's responsibility as part of the demolition process,” Cook said.
