The TWIN CREEK TIMES is joining more than 1,000 local newsrooms across the country to honor local news this week. A consortium of newsrooms and organizations has designated Thursday, April 9, as Local News Day.
The first Local News Day is an effort to build trust in local news and recognize journalism’s value.
“Twin Creek Times is a new and growing local news outlet, so we are honored to be included in this important list of local news organizations,” said editor and publisher Holly Michael. “Our founding was based on the reality that local news is sorely needed in this community and in communities across the country.”
Americans overwhelmingly say that local news and information is the most important and most trusted source they rely on. On April 9, Local News Day will help millions reconnect with the local outlets that strengthen our communities, keep us informed, and hold leaders accountable.
The TWIN CREEK TIMES is also a member of the Online News Association, an organization of digital journalists headquartered in Washington D.C., that includes members of both large and small online publications.
