The Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center is now using Smart911, a free service that allows residents to create a personal Safety Profile with information that can help 9-1-1 call takers and first responders during an emergency.
“Smart911 gives residents another tool to help us help them during an emergency,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck. “Residents choose what information they want to provide, and that information can give our dispatchers important details when they receive a 9-1-1 call.”
Residents choose what information they want to include in their profile, which can include medical needs, household members, pets, emergency contacts, home information and other important details.

When you call 9-1-1 from a phone associated with your Smart911 profile, the information you have provided is made available to the dispatcher. This can give dispatchers important details about you and your household while they are responding to your emergency.
Smart911 can be especially valuable when a caller is unable to communicate important information, whether due to an injury, medical emergency or other circumstances. The information provided through a Safety Profile can give dispatchers additional insight into the situation and assist in coordinating the appropriate response.
Creating a profile does not give dispatchers ongoing access to a resident’s personal information, and the service is not a tracking system. The information in a Safety Profile is made available to dispatchers when a resident calls 9-1-1 from a verified phone associated with the profile. Residents remain in control of the information they choose to provide.
