Germantown’s annual Memorial Day event organized by the Germantown Lions Club saw beautiful weather and served as a touching tribute to veterans and those who lost their lives serving the country.

Boy Scout Troop 29 and Cub Scout Pack 409 presented the colors and raised the flag to open the event at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Valley View band played patriotic music and the National Anthem.

The Valley View Chamber Choir sang God Bless America.

Daisy Troop 3766 and Girl Scout Troops 3244 and 3377 raised the flag at the cemetery.

Major Randall Klotz, USAF (retired) was the keynote speaker. He shared a message about putting “memorial” back in Memorial Day and shared examples of the daring sacrifices made by our troops.

After the flag raising by the Boy Scouts, groups, including the Germantown Police, Germantown Fire-EMS and I.O.O.F. Honor Guards presented floral tributes.

Germantown Union Cemetery
After the program at the Veterans Memorial Park, the groups marched to Germantown Union Cemetery for additional tributes.

Girl Scouts and Daisy Troop members raised the flag at the cemetery.

Errol Kelhoffer presented the Gettysburg Address.

At the conclusion of the program, attendees were invited to decorate the graves of veterans with flowers provided by the Village Flower Shop.
