Mark Keener, treasurer of the Valley View JEDD visited both the German and Jackson Township January meetings to share a financial update on the JEDD.

Keener, a representative on the JEDD board selected by Jackson Township, shared that the fund had collected $152,666 in taxes in 2025.

As prescribed in the JEDD contract, after fees, “Remaining JEDD income tax revenues (“Distributable Revenues”) shall be allocated among the Contracting Parties as follows: German Township 35%, Jackson Township 10%, Village of Farmersville 20%, and City of Germantown 35%.”

From the taxes, the JEDD also created a Special Projects fund that takes out 20% to put money back into the school.

Keener shared that the JEDD used the $37,000 fund to support the following:

·       Athletic Boosters weight room project

·       Music Boosters trailer

·       Greenhouse for special education students

·       Keyboards with headsets for music class

·       A request by the School Resource Officer for Stop the Bleed kits in every classroom

·       Equipment for a disc golf course on campus

·       Camera and drone for the digital media class

·       Digital cameras for the yearbook

·       A request by the PTO for a playground shade canopy

The Valley View JEDD was formed in 2021 as a joint agreement among the City of Germantown, the Village of Farmersville and Jackson and German Townships.

The JEDD was created in part to address the loss of income tax that would result from moving Valley View schools to German Township.

The JEDD economic development plan states:

“The City of Germantown, Village of Farmersville, German Township and Jackson Township have developed the proposed JEDD to facilitate and encourage the future growth and economic vitality of all communities within the Valley View School District. The future of the community starts with the successful education and development of the students within the community. A priority of the JEDD, upon formation, will be to generate financial resources necessary to provide appropriate governmental services and public infrastructure in support of the new school facilities and related development. The JEDD will distribute income tax revenues equitably to preserve and provide needed infrastructure and community services to support the School District and other businesses within the JEDD.”
