History

On November 14, 1954, a group of people met at the Carlisle Community Building (known today as the Carlisle Town Hall), establishing “a Southern Missionary Baptist Church” in the community. In June 1955 the Carlisle Mission Church was formally constituted as Hillcrest Baptist Church with 50 charter members.

In February 1957 Hillcrest moved into a newly constructed building on Hillcrest Avenue (now Carlisle Manor Nursing Home). In 1964, four acres were purchased on Central Avenue and a 600-seat sanctuary was built. A new education building was added on in 1971.

As Hillcrest continued to grow the need for a new sanctuary was realized in 1983 with the construction of a sanctuary seating 1200 people. The church continues to worship at this location. Hillcrest Baptist Church is affiliated with the Miami Valley Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention.
