The Historical Society of Germantown is hosting its annual open house on Sunday, May 3, 1-3 pm at its museum at 47 West Center Street in Germantown.

The community event will feature free sandwiches and drinks, along with popcorn by Mary Ann Recker.

The open house, which will include displays inside the Historical Society and on the lawn outside, will include a number of artists demonstrating their talents.

Artists and attractions include:

  • Debbie Simpkins and her dulcimer band

  • Dr. Mark Judy discussing how sugar maple syrup is made

  • David Shortt from the Veterans Memorial Museum will have a WW II jeep on display

  • Robert Seither will show his woodworking and inlay skills

  • Don and Dan Flory will discuss honey bee hives and honey production

  • Andrew Izor will have his glass etchings on display

  • Rick and Kimberly Cornett from Elite Iron in Farmersville will discuss their metal sign making talents. 

  • Nick and Amanda Smith will use their chainsaw carving talents to create a work of art. The carvings will sell at auction at 2:45 pm. Please bring cash or a check. 

“Come and join us on May 3 to learn about the history of Germantown and German Township,” said Historical Society president Glen Bowman.
