Throughout it's long history, Farmersville United Methodist has been a support for the local community: caring for the needs of families, gathering people for worship and fellowship, and developing local initiatives like CAMP and a Community Garden in town.

“We are a multi-generational, welcoming and accepting congregation that gathers for blended worship services, regular fellowship events, and age-specific ministry groups,” said Rev. Casey Ann Irwin.

History

Founded in 1831 by John Crider and John Reel as Farmersville United Brethren in Christ Church, the congregation was a part of the first Stillwater, then the Liberty circuit, sharing preachers with other local congregations.

The congregation moved from houses to a standalone building in 1841, and rebuilt the structure in 1898. The church merged with Twin Creek in 1928 to become Farmersville Johnsville United Brethren Church.

The current building was constructed in 1948, with an addition in 1955. Through denominational mergers, the congregation has been a part of the United Methodist Church since 1968.

For almost two centuries, despite all the name changes, Farmersville UMC has lived its mission as disciples of Jesus Christ: to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously into the world around us. The congregation will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2031.
