Plans are taking shape for the Farmersville School Memorial at Depot Pointe Park. A coalition of Farmersville school alumni, led by Sherry Wallace, has saved the school’s cornerstone along with a torch and shield that decorated the building.

Bricks saved from the school demolition will serve as the base for the memorial, which will also include a plaque with a poem by Hazel Gilbert that was part of the dedication of the building’s expansion in 1955.
DEDICATION
This wasn't the biggest school, but it was big.
It wasn't the most beautiful, but it was beautiful.
It wasn't the most modern, but it was modern.
The pupils weren't the smartest, but they were as good as the best.
But big, little, beautiful, smart, dull, win or lose,
It was still our school.
Hazel Gilbert
The Memorial Committee has identified a location at Depot Pointe Park and has approval from the Village of Farmersville to place the memorial.
Valley View alumnus Chris Selby has agreed to help build the memorial.
Current plans are to hold a dedication during Farmersville’s annual tree lighting at the park in December.
