Following multiple joint meetings and two community forums, Jackson Township Trustees, with the support of the Village of Farmersville, have voted to put a 2 mill levy on the ballot for November to fund both the Farmersville/Jackson Township Family Aquatic Center and the Farmersville/Jackson Township Joint Park.

The levy will replace the existing pool levy that expires at the end of 2026. The new property tax will generate $275,842 per year for 10 years.

Reports for the current pool season have been positive, with manager Devin Stoutenborough telling the Park Board that as many as 300 people have visited the pool during hot weather days.

As of July 10, the pool is generating a modest profit. This does not include the money that was spent from the existing pool levy for landscaping, painting and other improvements.

To help voters understand how the money will be spent, the Park Board is developing a short and long term plan for the park, with cost estimates on updates and improvements.

The Park Board was restarted in May this year, and includes representatives appointed by both Village Council and the Trustees. Members appointed by the Township include Matt Thaxton, Josh Kohlrieser and Joe Mazzucco. Elsye Martin and Jessica Kurtz were appointed by the Village.

The Park Board meets at the Jackson Township offices on the first Monday of the month. They have a working session planned for 6pm on Monday, July 27. Meetings are open to the public.
