After a long process and hours of work from school officials, Village leaders and local citizens, demolition started on the Farmersville school on Tuesday.

The initial demolition activity focused on the mobile classrooms and what appeared to be an effort to salvage the aluminum building material.

A small group of Farmersville alumni, neighbors and community members gathered at the fence to watch. Observers noted the chairs and fixtures that appeared to still be in the building and repeated wishes to save the gym.

A small demolition crew from Eslich Wrecking was on hand to operate the equipment, at times spraying water to provide safety from potential sparks.

The crew made a hole in the gym wall, apparently to use the space to store materials while other areas are torn down.

The demolition will continue and the TWIN CREEK TIMES will work to capture images and video.
