Fresh off their Southwestern Buckeye League win from last weekend, the Valley View High School dance team jumped into practice this week to tweak their routine for a run at the state title.

The team, led by coaches Dominique Tussing and Danielle Saul, qualified for state at the OASSA regional qualifier at Centerville High School on Jan. 10. The team had been disbanded in 2020 but returned in 2025 to win the SWBL title.

“We have a great mix of athletes on our team,” said coach Tussing. “Girls from soccer, golf, volleyball and cheer.”

According to the coaches, the routine is a “mash-up remix” of old pop and rap, including M.C. Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot.

The team will wear camouflage pants and navy jerseys with a Spartan head for their performance.

Members of the team include:

  • Keira Arstingstall

  • Piper Blakley

  • Kennedy Bowden

  • Ella Campbell

  • Allie Hannahan

  • Brenna Hensley

  • Olivia Hines

  • Caroline Kleinberg

UPDATE: Due to the weather, the team will compete for the state title on Sunday, February 8 at 9:45am at Vandalia-Butler High School.
