Ingredients

1 cup (two sticks) softened butter
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
½ cup white granulated sugar
5 large egg yolks
2 tsp vanilla extract
¾ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 ½ cups all purpose flour
2 cups chocolate chips (reserve some for topping the bars)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare a 9×13 baking pan with non-stick spray and parchment paper

  • In a large bowl beat together the butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla

  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add them to the sugar/butter mixture gradually and beat until mixed

  • Add the chocolate chips and mix with a spatula

  • Spoon the dough in to the pan and spread evenly. Add a few chocolate chips to the top

  • Allow the bars to cool and remove from the pan using the parchment. Cut into bars to serve

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature
