Regional and local musicians will be performing Saturday at Farmersville United Methodist Church for the inaugural Harmony for Hunger, a benefit for the CAMP food pantry.
The afternoon of live music will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2-4pm at the Methodist church on W. Center Street in Farmersville.
Uplifting Tunes
Organizer Eric Blankenship said attendees should expect music from multiple genres, including folk and contemporary gospel. “It should be a wide variety of music, a great mixture,” he said. “But above everything else, it's going to be a very positive, uplifting experience for everyone involved.”
The lineup for the event includes regional favorites like Midwestern Mrs, Luke Hummel, Jordan Chriss and Davin Tackett. The performance also features local musicians, including the church’s Cool Methodist Band, Inara Arnett, Ann Warner, Kofi Gunter, KB Irwin and Christina Sidaras.
Music for a Cause
All event attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate or make a cash or Venmo donation to the Community Action Mission Program (CAMP) Food Pantry. CAMP has been serving families in Farmersville, Germantown and New Lebanon since 1998 and operates a weekly food distribution on Thursdays at noon and 6pm at their Elm Street facility in Farmersville.
Blankenship sees this event as a way to uplift the community. “The world needs so much positivity right now,” he said. “Even though it's just in a small community in Ohio, I want to do everything that I can to let everyone know there are people out there that love you and support you and want to help you.”
“And if it's successful, then we're definitely going to want to try to do more. And if I could involve not only churches, but also different businesses that might want to support or host.”
The event will include a concession stand and more information on how to support the work of CAMP.
Blankenship encourages everyone to share the news of this event. “I would ask you this, just spread the word that this is what we're doing, and we're doing it for a great cause. We would like it to be successful, so we can go on to do it or have other events to help out other organizations.”
