As part of the celebration of America 250, Miami University Middletown and Hamilton campuses are welcoming nationally recognized speakers on America, past and present. The free events occur in March and April.

Frances McGee-Cromarty: “Finding Henry Dorton”

Frances McGee-Cromarty, a member of the America 250-Ohio board, will present "Finding Henry Dorton: The Story of My Revolutionary War Relative or How I Traced My African-American Family's History and Joined the DAR." McGee-Cromartie is a lawyer who spent her career in local government as an assistant Montgomery County prosecuting attorney and Common Pleas Court judge.

Richard Brookhiser Talk

Richard Brookhiser is a senior fellow at the National Review Institute, senior editor of “National Review,” and columnist for “American History.” Brookhiser has published seven books on revolutionary America. He also authored and hosted two films for PBS, “Rediscovering George Washington” and “Rediscovering Alexander Hamilton,” and in 2008 was awarded the National Humanities Medal.

General Wesley K. Clark Talk

A retired four-star general after 38 years in the United States Army, General Clark’s last assignments were as Commander of U.S. Southern Command and then Commander of U.S. European Command/Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. He worked with Ambassador Richard Holbrooke in the Dayton Peace Process, where he helped write and negotiate significant portions of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement. A candidate for the presidency in 2003, in 2019 he founded Renew America Together, a nonprofit organization designed to promote and achieve greater common ground in America by reducing partisan division and gridlock.
